From hot glassworking, to flameworking, to fusing, to sandblasting—you and your family can do just about anything with glass, with the help of our experienced glassworkers.
- Opportunities exist for all ages.
- No experience is necessary.
These short experiences are 20 to 40 minutes in length, depending on the Make Your Own Glass project.
A project may be completed by one participant, unless otherwise noted. Appropriate safety equipment is provided and required for each project. A parent or guardian must remain in The Studio while children are participating in Make Your Own Glass experiences.
Spots fill quickly, booking your experience online before your visit is recommended. If you or a member of your party aren’t feeling well, please call us up until the time of your appointment to cancel for a full refund.
Important information about shipping: All items (except sandblasted items) are not available for same-day pick-up, and must either be picked up after noon the next day (please allow two days for beads/pendants made in the last two sessions of the day) or shipped for an additional fee.
Important COVID safety information: All individuals in the Make Your Own Glass project area must wear a mask for the duration of the project with no exceptions—even if they have provided medical documentation that exempts them from wearing a face covering for their Museum visit. This provides an additional measure of safety to our guests and staff, who interact in closer proximity during projects, which are carefully configured to maximize social distancing to the degree possible. A plastic face shield is NOT an acceptable alternative to a mask for the purposes of a Make Your Own Glass experience. Visit our Health & Safety page for more information.

Pick Up or Ship Your Glass
All objects made in the workshop (except for sandblasted objects) must go through an overnight annealing (slow cooling) process and will not be available for same-day pick-up. Most objects can be picked up the next day after 12 p.m. (please allow two days for beads/pendants made in the last two sessions of the day).
If this is not possible, domestic and Canadian shipping is available (international shipping is not available at this time). There is no charge for shipping flameworked beads and pendants.
Curbside Pick Up Instructions
Please come to The Studio between the hours of 11:30 am–5:00 pm. You’ll see designated parking spaces in front of the building where you made your project. When you arrive, give us a call at 607-426-9022. If you choose to have your project handed directly to you, please wear a mask. If you’d like to go completely touch-free, just pop your trunk and we’ll place your package inside.
When you get home, show us your creation! Take a selfie with your artwork and tag us #IMadeGlass!
Plan to arrive at the workshop 10 minutes before your appointment. Before your experience starts, you can browse the Frederick Carder Gallery, watch others try their hand at glassmaking, or check out the classes happening at The Studio.
